Africa Data Centres’ West Africa lead argues that building halls is the easy part. Power and fibre transmission are what stall them.

A regional data-centre operator puts the constraint plainly: generation exists, but transmission lines, grid quality and terrestrial fibre do not keep up. A hall that cannot be fed with stable power and a path to the internet is a building, not a facility.
The same bottleneck shows up on institutional ICT programmes. A data centre, a government cloud node or a radio hub is only as reliable as the power and the last-mile network around it, which is why energy and ICT briefs on this site often arrive together.
